Had the makings of a great read - rave reviews, Pullitzer prize.

It was in fact a turgid book about a man who is an estate agent (English description) but sells nothing. If this is what America is about then it does not interest me. By the time we got within 100 pages of the end it became a desperate trudge. I even broke my reading rule and skimmed through lots and lots of utterly superfluous text. Was he getting paid by the word? A huge let down - I could have read 3 good books in teh time it took me to get through this garbage.
