Picked up at Saturdays meet - only journalled today as my laptop was down over the weeekend. I started to read this yesterday and my central heating packed up so I am obviously not 'burning'.

Journal Entry 4 by beckydore from Torpoint, Cornwall United Kingdom on Wednesday, January 3, 2007
I went along to the transita day in Oxford along with Ali who was extremely excited by the whole prospect. I have to say I was put off transita books a bit by the discussion about them being aimed at the over 45s and only picked up a couple of books - one to be a Christmas present for my Mum and the other being Stage by Stage which seemed like it was slightly younger focussed.

Never the less, I picked this up at the Birmingham meet last week and started reading on New Years Day, shortly after my car was written off. As mentioned in my earlier post, my central heating then broke down during the same day.

But what can I say about this novel.. it blew me away... and any review will not do it justice.

I can understand that feeling that your brother is the only one who completely knows you... also that long term relationships can turn almost into a brotherly love. (Must point out though that my relationships with my brother have remained non-sexual.. but he is the only person who seems to be able to read my mind and predict when I'm about to 'go off on one').

This novel kept me glued to the pages, despite the traumas of the past few days..... am pleased to say I now have a temporary fix to my heating and a courtesy car.

Reserving the book for Safrolistics.

Ok, ok, so this book has been sitting on my book shelf for FAR too long now, and as I've just been prodded by Becky to read it, I will start tomorrow!
Happy now Becky? LOL

I've now finished this book.
At first the changing years and narrative had me confused, but I soon got into it, but by the end I found all the incest a bit OTT, still, I will be passing the book on to a friend.
