This book really should have been better than it was. The basic idea (what would happen to society if everyone could see everything that was happening, now and in the past?) is fascinating, and the authors take the idea off on some interesting tangents. The writing is good (as you would expect from two authors with such a good track record), and really I should have nothing to complain about...

Except.

Somehow the book just doesn't get anywhere. Lots happens, but it all seems kind of random and aimless, really. Even though there were really only a handful of major characters and a few storylines, somehow I got to the end of the book feeling like there were too many of both. Oh, and the homage to The Time Machine in the final chapter was far too obvious (both in its execution and in its conclusion), and went on too long, way past the point of cleverness.

So, to sum up in a rather contradictory manner, although I enjoyed reading the book as I was reading it, after having read it I was left feeling pretty "meh".
