Brave New World

We did a comparison of Brave New World and 1984 in my book club. I found this book interesting, but not fantastic.
RELEASE NOTES:
Picked up at tonight's Meetup. I read this many years ago and loved it. I will re-release it soon.

I'd like to read this, but I have so many books in my reading queue, I won't be able to get to it for a while. So in the meantime, I'll leave it as available in case someone is hot to read it!
OK, I''ve now read this classic of modern literature, and I must say I was disappointed. A lot of interesting ideas, but as a story it was unsatisfying--many plot elements fizzling into nothing and uneven character development at best. I guess I prefer my dystopian vision to be more Orwellian.

I picked this up at the Evanston Meetup. Thanks for bringing it!
I had a hard time getting into this book. The story line was rather strange. It is about a perfect world in the future. Several people have expressed interest in reading it so I may start a bookray.
This is being included in my 1001 bookbox.

I took this one from nynjagrrls's 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die bookbox. I've been reading one book off of the list for every 'other' book that I read. Of the nine books I took from the bookbox, this is the one I'm most looking forward to. Thanks for putting this box together nynjagrrl!
Not nearly as compelling a plot as 1984 and many of the characters feel rather hollow. I had a hard time identifying with any of them, which I suppose was the point. Still, if you can't find frightening parallels between this novel and present day life, you're clearly reading too much and not paying attention! :) Definitely worthy of being on the 1001 list.
