Thank you Purplerosebud for my birthday present and sorry I haven't journaled it earlier. Another book that brought back memories of different things in my childhood/growing up years. It was funny but with a touch of sadness. Will pass this back to Purplerosebud next time I see her.

Although I'm a big fan of Laurie Graham this isn't my favourite book of hers. However before I had finished page one, I knew it was going to make me laugh. Written with truthfulness, there is lots of humour and touches of sadness. A nice, quick easy read. I will be looking out for a new home for this book.

What a treat this was!
I took it away on holiday with me and read it in two days. Laurie Graham is brilliant, she can make you laugh and cry at the same time. Perfect.

It wasn't meant to be like this. Being on television was meant to lead to a rich social life, book signings, opening supermarkets. But for Lizzie Partridge, 40-something, divorced and TV cook on Midlands This Morning, it meant dinners for one, coping with an air-head of a daughter and following middle-aged men into corner shops.
Her good friend Louie - if only he wasn't gay - thought he knew what the trouble was: Lizzie was always on the wrong side of the glass, looking in at other people's lives. Whatever the truth of that, things for Lizzie were going to get a lot worse before they got better.
I thoroughly enjoyed this, as I do all of Laurie Graham's books. The narrator was very real to me, and I enjoyed spending tie in her company.
Not, however, as memorable as some of the other books, such as Mr Starlight, but good all the same.
