I so much loved this book, I had no idea when I bought it that it was a classic. The author makes the time travel so real and the Manhattan scenes come to life in this book.

Let me start out by saying that I really wanted to like this book so much! The time-travel story seemed so promising and I know that many Bookcrossers have listed this book as one of their all-time favorites! The general idea of the book is that time is like a river and there are ways to go "upstream" to get back to an earlier time. Interesting, right? But, the book starts out soooooo slow and does not pick up the pace until near the end. In my opinion, the author could have used an aggressive editor because the descriptions of people, streets, buildings, etc. were sometimes so unbearably long and tedious that I almost gave it up several times. Another thing, even though the book was so wordy, I never felt that I got to know the characters all that well. I did enjoy the black and white sketches of 1880's New York City and the last part of the book was a real page-turner where it really picked up the pace and had many twists and turns in the story-line.

Since so many others have loved this book, I will send it on to the next reader with high hopes!

I found this book when I was visiting a family friend over the weekend, precisely 9/6/10, in Nebraska at the Scooter's. It seemed like the baristas didn't even know this book was hidden there (I asked them, just to make sure it was okay to take home with me to Illinois, and they were pretty surprised)

I just want to let you all know that it is safe with me in Schaumburg, Illinois. I haven't started reading it yet, but it seems like a great book.

I will keep you posted ;)

I picked up this book at Roji Tea Lounge in Syracuse, NY. I am so excited - it is my first bookcrossing book that I've actually picked up since joining several months ago. It is sitting on my bookshelf waiting for me to finish reading some library books. I will journal again when I have read and released it. :D
