I read this book in September 2003 for a course on 'Travel Fiction' that I eventually dropped. I've found that you can read course descriptions, but you never really know what you're getting into until you sit through a few classes. And sometimes what seems like a rather neutral class reveals itself to be a professor's agenda.
So, Pico Iyer: Professor Holland put him on the course because he detests him. Little did any of us know this. And when I gave a presentation on 'The Multiculture' (see all my pencil marks), it didn't really matter what I said. Because all Holland wanted to do was rail on Iyer. Now, I'm all for stating an opinion, but this guy closed down any debate whatsoever.
So, without further adieu, I'll release 'The Global Soul' out there without my opinion on it at all (well, except the stars). Enjoy.
