This book won the Whitbread Award. Rose Tremain also wrote Restoration, which is one of the few novels I've rated a 10. I'm looking forward to reading it.

Will mail to JDT when I'm through.

Journal Entry 3 by O-Jenny from Temple, Texas USA on Tuesday, March 25, 2003
I'm going to go ahead and mail this one to JDT. I've started it three or four times now and just can't get into it. Odd, because I loved Restoration and The Way I Found Her. Anyway, I don't feel right holding on to it when someone else could be enjoying it.

Happy to receive this nice-quality HB from JennyO today.
Looks like an intriguing read - historical novel set in 17th century Denmark.
Thanks, JennyO!

What a lovely cover! I am looking forward to this read, though it is a bit daunting. But, I've got a reading schedule now and I am determined to stick to it.

And, JDT...I know the Arnold Arboretum well! I don't live close now but did as a child. If the weather ever clears up, I think I'll take some books and a lunch and head over there for an afternoon. Thanks for the reminder...and the beautiful postcard!

I am not going to get to finish this for a few weeks. It is a wonderful read, however not one I can read in short bursts, which is all I have until I get some time off from work (lots and lots of overtime). I am going to take out a copy from work (yes...Borders' staff can take home books, just like at a library, read and return) and I'll post a proper journal entry after I've read it. This lovely copy is on its way to phillycarol tomorrow.

Journal Entry 7 by PostMuse from Wellfleet, Massachusetts USA on Friday, May 9, 2003
This is in the mail to phillycarol tomorrow, USPS tracking #02805213907020736432, however that won't be trackable until sometime late Sat. And I did pick up a copy on loan from work so I can finish it and post a proper journal entry :-)

I have to admit that I was a little intimidated by this book because no one before me has finished it. BUT, it turns out that I loved it. I would categorize it as historical fiction with royal intrigue and love. I can fully see why it won the Whitbread Novel of the Year Award. I liked the intertwining stories and the constant change in voice/perspective.

I will mail this book to tamarabk tomorrow.
