This is the story that the movie was based upon. It is a very fictionalized account of the real life murder of Elizabeth Short who was nicknamed the Black Dahlia. Listening to other people talk about this, they either love it or hate. I'm closer to the second group. If a book is going to be a fictionalized account of an actual event, I'd prefer to see a closer tie to reality than what this one had. I read a lot of true crime and it was very difficult for me to get into this. But if you Like Ellroy, you'll probably love it. I hope it finds a better home!

At this time 60 years ago, the hunt for the killer of the Black Dahlia was in full swing. The Safe House seems a good place to release this one with all the clandestine overtones.
