"When Sudha leaves India to join her cousin Anju in California, it starts a chain of events that will change both their lives. The women have been bosom friends since childhood and, having recently suffered tragedy, need each other more than ever.

Tensions mount - their relationship becomes shadowed by jealousy as Anju's husband becomes increasingly besotted with Sudha..."

THANK YOU SOOOOOOOO MUCH PIIKU!

I opened the parcel on Xmas Eve in my cabin while at work, listening to Christmas Carols on my iPod.
This will go high up on Mt. TBR!

Once again; thank you so much Piiku for this xmas present!
I have enjoyed the book very much.
I have read the sort-of- first part; Sister of my heart, where Anju and Sudha (who btw are cousins) live in India. You don't have to have read that book to understand and enjoy this book, the story of the first book is woven into this story.

This book begings when Sudha and her daughter Dayita come to live with Anju and her husband Sunil in California. Sudha has left her husband in India, her mother-in-law wanted her to have an abortion because she was expecting a girl.
In the first book we learned that Sunil fell in love with Sudha the moment he saw her and now they live under the same roof only Sunil is married to Anju.
It's a collission of cultures, humanity and feelings and what's correct and what's not. Very well written and the story was not as predictable as the first part.
