The book is so much better than any of the film versions. It was fun to read about the invasion in an area not that far away and so perfectly described.

This book reads like an old Twilight Zone episode, and this is meant as a compliment, since some stories are just timeless and this is one of them.
The author sets a nice pace to the novel and creates a reasoning plot, albeit with enough holes to make a Swiss cheese.
I enjoyed reading it very much, mainly because it felt honest and straight and the author did not waste time in justifying, or pretending to justify, what’s happening in Mill Valley.
Sent to malagan today (30.01.2007).

AS a massive fan of the 1956 film (my dad was into horror and science fiction films so all us kids were introduced from an early age), I was hoping for good things from this book. It mostly didn't disappoint except for the ending which I think was weak. Whereas the films ending is much more creepy and in line with the rest of the book. In fact there's quite a few things that the film improved on which is unusual as it is usually the other way round. The only other example i can think of where a film was much better than the original book was LA Confidential. Still I enjoying reading it and its such a great story.

Will be sending off to next reader today!

A really great book, though a couple of the characters rather got on my nerves at times... sometimes I just wanted to slap them! But then I'm the sort of person that yells at the tv when people do things I think are stupid so I guess it's only to be expected!

That said, I really did enjoy reading this - it's got a nice pace and flow to it.

Will send on to Martin1960 as soon as I have address.

I totaly enjoyed this book. I agree there are gaping holes in the storyline however you are warned about this right at the begining of it. I also agree that the film has a better ending, usually I find that books are better than films but maybe thats because films are somebody else's minds eye of the story. I'm going to PM abrokenstarr today to get it moving on.

I'm sorry, I'm not sure what happened with this, but it seems to me that it arrived in the week before I moved house (28th of July) and that I couldn't register it in all the hustle and bustle.

Then since the move it has totally slipped my mind. I'm sorry. This is next up on the list.

Journal Entry 23 by abrokenstarr from Reading, Berkshire United Kingdom on Tuesday, August 28, 2007
Much, much better than Time and Again, this science fiction gripped me more satisfactorily. In this, the people of Mill Valley begin to believe that their relatives are no longer their relatives. They can't explain why they aren't, just that there is something about them that is wrong.

The main characters were reasonably clear, the plot was engagin and right up until the end, the story was easy to follow. The end of the story was less satisfying, but I'll accept it.

Cheesy reference to Time and Again in the book!

Will try to send this on as soon as possible. Read in two days!

Journal Entry 26 by RockDg9 from Toowoomba, Queensland Australia on Saturday, February 23, 2008
Fantastic book! I love the slight parody tones it gets at times - great for something written in the 1950s. It was a very lineal story which is a relief from the overly-complicated stuff I've been reading lately. A nice 'string-of-pearls' plot. I know at the start of the book the author says not to read it if you don't like open endings, but in my opinion it didn't leave too many questions unanswered.

PMing the next participant.

This was sooo good! This makes me want to read more science fiction. I don't read that genre very often, but I always enjoy it. This is going to the next person on the list as soon as I can get it to the PO.

This book was a blast to read! And it is way better than the more modern (1970-80 version)movies. This was a quick, easy read and I throroughly enjoyed it. I'm going to have to find the original movie since I haven't seen it since I was a kid and watch it again.
I am the last in line, so AlterEgoZoe, I guess I need your address! Thanks for including me in this ring.

Loved it! What a perfectly old-fashioned, creepy, classic piece of science-fiction! I read it in one day, couldn't put it down. I loved the ending, which always makes or breaks a sci-fi novel for me. I never saw the movie(s), but plan to get the original from the library this week.
