Loved it! A nice easy read.

Found by coincidence on my wild releasing pile and sent to my NSS partner.

Hope you like it too!

There’s a special place held in one’s heart for books that have a fine blend of sadness and joy intertwined in them yet leave one believing in the best of human endeavours and for me one of those books is Jerry Spinelli’s Stargirl. After reading that, this book vaulted onto my wish-list. Therefore I hardly need say how pleased I am to now have discovered this in my Not So Secret September Back to School Stationary Surprise 2009 parcel. Bowled over by your wonderful kindness and generosity Pookledo!

So a fab four of books and ALSO some show stopping stationary. Yahoo ~ what a haul! Starting on a green theme a tiny circular, green-pea green, calculator, just like an overgrown smartie with smartie coloured buttons, both instantly amusing and useful as having some dyscalculia tossed in with my dyslexia I cannot count for toffee!

Continuing with the green stationary theme, a wondrous Maped, sucked-sweetie of a corner shaped pencil-sharpener, in three glorious shades of lime, kelly green, and moss, beautiful for make-up pencils.
Then neatly completing the green theme, a delicious lime green, twist’n flex 30cm ruler, just the thing for a creative soul like myself who feels its vital to have multiples of items so there’s always *one* on hand where-ever I need it!

Book cover: ‘I can spell tintinnabulation’ Donald Zinkoff is a one-off. He loves school – even gets there two hours early. When his first teacher tells him he has 2160 day in school to look forward too, Donald is the happiest boy alive. He loves funny long words, and howls with laughter over the silliest of them. When his teacher calls his spelling ‘atrocious’, he’s thrilled – what a word! To Zinkoff, every new experience is a pleasure. But to his classmates he’s Loser and on-one wants to be friends with a loser. Soon – before the end of 2160 days – they’ll know that and name can be replaced with ‘hero’…

From the award-winning author of Manic Magee, Wringer, and Stargirl.

‘With some of his finest writing to date, Spinelli used wit and emotion to create the unique story of Zinkoff as he travels from the first through sixth grade.’ PUBLISHERS WEEKLY

How does Jerry Spinelli do that, he creates unlikely characters and makes them believable! This is complicated characterisation and he make’s it look easy. And… yahoo it’s uplifting, brilliant! A tale of a good natured kid who baffles the bullies, and no matter what seems to plod on his own way…

Thanks Pookledo I have a brilliant idea of how to release this so we’ll see how it goes…? :-)
