Heheheheheheh. Groobs was far too busy having fun at the convention to catch up with mundane tasks like sticking labels in. As was I. So wonderful to meet you after al these years, Grooble! And what a fantastic time we had. Next time, we've got to make it a week, though I suspect the convention organisers would run for cover...
Snagged this one at the Woden mini-meet today. Looks like my kind of book!
thanks

Journal Entry 5 by Jensel from Canberra, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Monday, January 1, 2007
Just realised I wasn't logged in when I made the last journal so came up as anonymous, whoops.
Just finished this one off over the break.
Interesting book but disappointing in the pacing. The premise is brilliant but the storyline was so slow that it was wasted. I'd love to have seen (read?) this done by someone with really good action writing skills (John Marsden?).
Thanks for the chance to read this one, will send it back into the world soon,
thanks
Jensel

Released today on the MS Ryndam (cruise ship), currently travelling up Alaska's Inside Passage (no sniggering).
Thought it might be appropriate subject matter...
Happy travels little book.

Happy travels little book.
I was so excited when I found this book in the Ryndam Library on May 17th. It is the first real wild catch that I have found though I got a few where i was alerted that they had been released. I recognized Grooble right away from seeing her/his name in the forums, and was tempted to see if I could have her paged in case she was on the ship with me. At home today , I can now find out how this book arrived in Alaska from Australia.
I agree with Jensel that the book was slow paced.I found myself skipping over paragraphs to hurry it along a bit. It really was a strange little book. The author has a good concept here but could have livened it up somewhat.

I picked up this book from the Post Office today.
Thank you soooooo much, kayjay33!!!
I really enjoyed Day of the Triffids by this author, so hopefully I will enjoy this one as well. This little book has had a very long trip to get here(releasing it on the ship was funny!), so I will be making sure that it continues on its travels once I've read it.
Thanks again kayjay33!

I read this one a while back and really enjoyed it! I still like Day of the Triffids better, but this was a very entertaining read.
I finally found a copy of this to add to my PC so I am going to release this one at the next Calgary Bookcrossing meeting for a fellow Bookcrosser to pick up.
I am very grateful to kayjay33 for sending this my way and was the lucky recipient of more than one book from her. It was sad to loose her earlier this year - may her memory live on with all the books she has sent out across the world.

I am taking this classic sci-fi to the Calgary Bookcrossing meeting at Cravings to find a new reader.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!
Picked up this book at the Calgary BookCrossing September meet-up. I read "Day of the Triffids" back in high school so it'll be cool to read more John Wyndham. And a kraken! Who doesn't love a kraken?
For a book called "The Kraken Wakes", there isn't a kraken in sight. I was expecting, like, Godzilla, but on the sea.
It was still an enjoyable book. You get a different side of a monster invasion story. And you never see the monsters, either. They send the sea-tanks on to land, but no one figures them out. The ending isn't typical, either. The world gets flooded and people just have to live with it. I was recently in London and to imagine the streets flooded with water is a powerful image.

Passing along this book to the next reader at the Calgary BookCrossing December meet-up.

This was a really fun read. I especially like the dialogue from the Bocker scientist character.
Might have to keep an eye out for Day of the Triffids as recommended by the other people in this thread.

Picked up at get together
I hadn't read the back of the book or anything before hand, so I was expecting a mythic creature rising from the deeps and was surprised instead to find it was about an alien invasion!
Was a fun read which I quite enjoyed. After reading it I actually listened to a bit of the radio show they'd done of it way back when.
Thanks for the interesting read.

Taken to get together
Picked up at the April meeting!
Taken to the November meeting: Ten Big ones. I read about big things in general this month, and if a kraken doesn't fit that theme, nothing does!
However, since the kraken isn't really a character in this book, I did have to go off my reading schedule to visit an actual Kraken in the Tortall-verse, and went down a rabbit hole of ten books.
To the finder:
Calgary has an active group of BookCrossers that meet to swap books and discuss book crossing every second Saturday of the month at 11am at Cravings Market on Fairmount Drive SE. We always love to meet new crossers, so please join us any time you like!

Where does all the time go, I somehow missed journalling these after the November meeting. My apologizes, they are safely with me!
Are you in the Calgary area and interested in meeting up with other Calgary BookCrossers? Please check out our facebook group, "BookCrossing Calgary" for details on how. Meeting are held on the second Saturday of every month starting at 11am. Location is unknown, please PM me for information. New Crossers are always welcome.
With another baby on the way, I have to purge my shelf a bit. I am returning this one to the group where it can find a new reader.
