This was a great start to the series. It also has wonderful recipes too. :O) This is off to find a new home. Enjoy the book and thanks for the trade. :O)
Wow, that got here fast! I'm eager to read it (and continue our conversation, BF), but am sooo swamped right now. As soon as I get a minute, I promise -- but it might be awhile!
Wow. Thirteen years later, I sat down with this... and kind of wish I hadn't.
As I said in my review on Goodreads, I have read poor series starters before and gone on to love the series (Stephanie Plum and Sookie Stackhouse, in particular). But this was more than poor writing.
I couldn't get past a cop letting Hannah do the work for him. I couldn't get past the description of the cat -- cats don't act like that! And giving your cat ice cream is an invitation for health problems, as cats are lactose-intolerant.
This series is now up to 27 books, so it's clearly doing well, has found its groove, and all that. It might be outstanding by now (and I hope it is). But I also have no interest in finding out. Not if it means making other books sit around for as long as this one did.
