Read "Affinity" by Sarah Waters and have wanted to read more by her ever since. Spotted this in a charity shop today and thought I'd add it to Mount TBR. I enjoyed the BBC adaptation of this.
I suppose my biggest problem with this book was I'd seen the BBC dramatisation first and knew of all the plot twists and turns. I did however really enjoy this modern book which emulates the classics: think Oliver Twist meets Great Expectations. I thought the characters were well thought out and I loved all the historical details that made this book come alive.
It makes me want to re-read "Affinity" which I also loved. Oh and of course the other books of Sarah Waters I haven't yet read!

I’ve had this one quite some time. I read it and really enjoyed it. A very engaging story full of many twists and turns! Set in Victorian times but perhaps with quite modern language? I have more Waters books on the shelf, will read more soon.
