When you're desperate for money, searching for a little adventure, and aren't the most responsible person in the world, you can end up doing some outrageous things. Which is how Andrew Mayhem, an extremely married father of two, ends up accepting $20,000 to find a key...a key buried with a body in a shallow grave.

But what he finds in the grave isn't quite what he expected, and what begins as a simple evening of morally questionable manual labor turns into a really good way to die. Andrew finds himself investigating a murder while forced into a bizarre game of wits and courage played by an unseen killer with a twisted sense of humor. It's a game that will involve him with a group of filmmakers known as Ghoulish Delights, who are hiding a secret that will test every last bit of Andrew's nerve to discover.

And it's impossible to find a babysitter.

Graverobbers Wanted (No Experience Necessary) is the first book in the Andrew Mayhem series. The other books are Single White Psychopath Seeks Same and Casket For Sale (Only Used Once).

I finally got around to reading this book. I don't know what exactly I was expecting, but what I got was a mystery with some gruesome twists. The best part of the book was the humor. The plot itself was okay, but somehow the overall feeling I got from reading was that the book is very much like a Ghoulish Delights film, made with a small budget and amateur actors. Jeff Strand's characters remained a bit on the cardboardy side, and I never really got to care for them. The book was easy to read and funny, but I guess with a title like Graverobbers Wanted (No Experience Necessary) I expected something really awesome.

Just finished it. I'm not a big horror buff, to put it mildly, and I'm not sure now how I came to sign up for this ring. Anyway, I seem to have survived reading it and that's a relief (although perhaps I should wait until morning to see what sort of dreams this stuff brings me...)

As CandyDarling said, the title of the book is pretty awesome but the content doesn't quite live up to it. The concept of your regular (and pretty aimless) Joe trying to solve horrible riddles while trying to keep his loving wife reasonably satisfied and find babysitters for his kids is pretty fun, and I quite liked Andrew and his family (never really got the feel of any other characters), but I guess with all the suspense built up around the middle of the book, I was expecting a cleverer plot. But as I said, I'm glad just to have gotten through the book. :-) I thought I'd have to stick to reading it only in the daytime, but in the end I finished it in the middle of the night, had to see how it would end.

I've PM'd Amberkatze for their address. Thanks again, CandyDarling!

Update (June 2): there was some trouble with PMs going through, but the book is now in the mail to Amberkatze. Happy trails!

I pm'd Joasik about a week ago and haven't gotten a reply. I will pm Joasik but I am flying away for a week so this book will be with me until at least the middle of July.

It has been well over a year now and this book is still sitting on my bookshelf. I have sent messages to everyone I can think of and nobody is replying to me. Should I just release this book?
