Posted to Bestfriends as a RABCK to thank her for a great pile of Agatha Christie books she sent me.

Journal Entry 3 by bestfriends from - Ergens in de provincie, Gelderland Netherlands on Thursday, October 12, 2006
This book arrived during my holidays and I was glad I gave someone the key to the mailbox, for otherwise it would have been impossible for the postman to deliver all the Bookrossing goodies (RABCKs, ringbooks, Birthday and Holiday Gift Giving presents). What a nice surprise to come home to! What a wonderful community Bookcrossing is!

Thanks PurpleElephant for fulfilling a wish and the other nice surprises! (I already ate the chocolate!)

Finished reading today. After having enjoyed "The No. 1 Ladies' detective Agency" by the same author a couple of monts ago, it was a pleasure to be back in Botswana and to meet Mma Ramotswe and Mr. Matekoni again.

Looking forward to the other books in the series.
Thanks again PurpleElephant!

Journal Entry 9 by bookguide from Wijchen, Gelderland Netherlands on Wednesday, August 13, 2008
CAUGHT IN NIJMEGEN
Took this book off the shelf in OBCZ Lux yesterday when I was there for a late lunch. It has now moved 10km down the road to Wijchen, where I am afraid it will stay some time, as my TBR pile grows by the day. I too read 'The No. 1 Ladies' detective Agency' a few months ago, and am looking forward to reading this one too.

I look after the bookboxes for our Expat English-speaking club, which is currently the unofficial BCZ Foreign Exchange, so when I've read it, it will get the chance to be read by many other friends.

Journal Entry 10 by bookguide from Wijchen, Gelderland Netherlands on Tuesday, July 28, 2009
What a wonderful book! A few months ago I actually watched some of the series filmed by Anthony Minghella, which contained the stories from this book. Luckily my memory is like a sieve, and I didn't remember what happened, but I certainly had the pictures from the TV in my head, which was no bad thing. I remember that the thing that most surprised me in the TV series was that the streets of the Botswanan city were far more modern than I had expected.

I loved the way in which Mma Ramotswe solves her cases by a combination of gossip, female intuition, observation and common sense, sometimes making a judgment call on whether a white lie is better for all concerned than the revelation of the whole truth. I was also amused by the universal complaint of adults that "young people today" are not as well-behaved as they used to be.
