This has taken me 10 days to read, in which time I'd normally have read at least two books of a similar length. It just felt like hard work. My slowness in reading this has partly been due to the mechanics of reading (much of the book is written in unfamiliar Afro-American dialect) and partly because I just wasn't in to the story.

Oh dear. Hope whoever reads this next has more luck with it than I did.
