In his eagerly awaited fourth novel, New York Times-bestselling author Nick Hornby mines the hearts and psyches of four lost souls who connect just when they've reached the end of the line.
Meet Martin, JJ, Jess, and Maureen. Four people who come together on New Year's Eve: a former TV talk show host, a musician, a teenage girl, and a mother. Three are British, one is American. They encounter one another on the roof of Topper's House, a London destination famous as the last stop for those ready to end their lives.
In four distinct and riveting first-person voices, Nick Hornby tells a story of four individuals confronting the limits of choice, circumstance, and their own mortality. This is a tale of connections made and missed, punishing regrets, and the grace of second chances.
Intense, hilarious, provocative, and moving, A Long Way Down is a novel about suicide that is, surprisingly, full of life.

Sending to someone for something :-)
This started out really really good. I couldn't stop reading it... the middle dropped off, but it ended well :) I really like Nick Hornby. His writing is interesting - he keeps my attention. And he's a little bit funky.
I loved the character of JJ and absolutely hated Jess. I know, everyone who has ever read this book hated Jess. But I HATED her. I'm pretty sure I actually called her a few really nasty names.
Now THAT is the sign of a well written book... you feel actual hatred towards one of the characters :-)

Four strangers in London meet on New Year's Eve, at thetop of a building known for it's popularity among people who commit suicide. Once they've made a pact to postpone their actions, the group begins to meet on a regular basis. But will the more they found out about each other take them even closer to the brink of their own destruction?
I liked Hornby's character development. Each character had a distinct voice and the four had good and bad things about each of them. I would say my favorite character was JJ, the American. The book had a good length and exhibited the nice style Hornby is known for.

Sendint to Tranq1 for the RMTBRBB. I saw you'd enjoyed the author's other books... Enjoy!
