From the first few chapters I read, it is a solid historical romance set in the days of the lead up to the Second World War and the War itself. It was made into a BBC TV serial "Fortunes of War" so it must have some good chops. I wasn't in the right mood for it at the time, however, and now my reading pile has grown too much to go back and give this one another go. It needs a good, loving home, where it will be read and appreciated.
