Stephenson's "Snow Crash" was the first sci-fi book I ever read and it is one of those "books that changed my life" memories. Until that point I had an interest in technology, but only insofar as it allowed me to do things I had only dreamed of in my youth...corresponding with people from far away places and finding all sorts of information about favorite subjects. The book made me think more about the details of technology, and though I am no techno wiz, I am a bit more savvy than most of my contemporaries when it comes to the Internet and computers.
This book has the sub-title of "eco-thriller." My research for graduate studies touches on ecology and I wonder if this book will again open new areas of interest. To be continued....

I am taking this book to the UK next month. A friend has requested it and I will make sure he releases it in the UK on a planned date and location.
I will try to read it before I hand it over, but not sure if I will get to it.

Journal Entry 5 by PostMuse at The Shaftsbury Memorial Fountain in Piccadilly, Greater London United Kingdom on Thursday, February 27, 2003
Release planned for Tuesday, March 18, 2003 at Piccadilly Circus, near Statue of Eros in London, Greater London United Kingdom.
Not having seen the area around the Eros statue, I am not sure this is a great release location, but I am going to give it a shot. I will have it in a zip-lock bag to keep it safe from elements.
