Met a pal for Xmas coffee a few days before Christmas Day in the old Market Hall in shrewsbury. A great cafe with lots of reading material.

Loved it. I love food too so was fascinated by Slater's observations. It was also a sad book, lots of childhood loneliness and also that feeling that you have that you never really know your parents and they leave or die and its too late.

Passed book onto a friend who lives in London and when he has read it he will probably leave it somewhere on the Tube....
