The story of the journey of a book - its writer and its reader and how their relationship combines for an intreging mystery. A wonderful read.
I am now going to send this book out as a bookray.

Thanks Zepplin - I picked this book up when I got back to Oxford on Friday, sorry for not journalling it at the time!
Anyway, I have now read it, and I have to admit that I don't think I enjoyed it as much as a lot of other people seem to have done. It took me quite a while to get into it, and it wasn't really until I was about half-way through that it grabbed me. It's not badly written, but I found that the language was sometimes a bit overdone, a bit forced. But the story is interesting.
I have sent Bibilicious a PM, and will try again today. It should be posted tomorrow or Tuesday.

Many thanks to Mochagirl, I safely received this book on Friday and am currently reading it.
I hope to be finished reading by this weekend and have already PM'd CanberraPenny in Austria for details of where to mail to next. I'm finding the book beautifully written so far and quite engrossing.

Many thanks to Zeppelin and Mochagirl for sending this book to me as part of a book ray. I really enjoyed reading it and found the story very touching and beautifully written. Quite unusual.
Sending the book on to CanberraPenny who is next on the list.

Received this book today - it's thicker than I thought it would be! Will PM Symphonicca for postage details in a day or so.
Have finished this book and I really enjoyed it - just a lovely story and a great read. I found some of the language a bit stilted but I wonder if that's just a bad translation from the Spanish? Still waiting to receive address details from Symphonicca (she's moving) - will post as soon as I have these.
Mailing the book to Symphonicca on Tuesday 17th October 2006.
I seriously cannot believe this book got from Austria to my little village in Peru in such a short amount of time--- sometimes the world just spins a little faster or something, eh?? Am REALLY looking forward to reaading this--- thanks for sending it along--- will journal more when i am through!
A good, relatively quick read--- the story really starts to pull you in as the plot progresses. I kinda guessed who was posing as Lain Colbert fairly early on, but was also thrown several curve balls that I never saw coming. LOVED the character of FermĂn--- the way he spoke, along with his general relish and approach to life, added a lot of color in an otherwise fairly bleak backdrop. I wished that the relationship between the narrator and his father would have been more fleshed out---- it felt stilted and dropped, despite the occasional moments of touching beauty between them--- the rest of the time, it was like the dad didn't exist.
Anyway, I don't mean to complain. I did like this book--- part coming of age, part mystery, part ghost story, part romance--- had a little bit of everything, but atthe same time almost always successfully juggled all of these themes. Thanks for passing this book along!! Will find a good home for it, either in Lima somewhere, on my way back to Canada for christmas break. Not too many english speakers here (actually, one, that I have found), so will wait to release it until the chances are greater of it being caught by someone who will understand it! :)
Happy reading!

I passed this book on to the only english-speaker in my community on Sunday, Nov. 19 (election day here in Peru!)--- he is also working here and is desperate for english lit, and promised to bookcross this book when he is finished. Glad to see this bookray will be continuing its journey, even if it is staying in Peru (for now!) :)
Great book. You gotta love a good mystery especially with such an intricate story. Basically just a damn well written good tale.
FYI: passed this great book onto a colleague at a workshop I was attending in lima. She was desperate for english lit, so hopefully this will scratch her itch. Enjoy!
