The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time
2 journalers for this copy...
I bought this book at a garage sale for 25 cents. I also have another copy that I'm going to start a bookray with.
9/25/06-9/27/06
226 pages
From the inside cover: "Despite his overwhelming fear of interacting with people, Christopher, a mathematically gifted, autistic fifteen-year-old boy, decides to investigate the murder of a neighbor's dog and uncovers secret information about his mother."
I really liked this book, I thought it was an excellent story about a boys adventure in solving crime. The author wrote the character extremely well and must have a good understanding inside the mind of a person with autisim. I'm not even sure whether the author is autistic himself, the way that the book is written it's hard to tell. I would recommend this book to others.
10/15/06 My Dad read this book and he really liked it, he even talked my mom into reading it.

Having worked with students with autism, I'm impressed by how well the author manages to capture the thoughts and mannerisms of a person with this condition. I know Mark Haddon worked with autistic individuals as well and did extensive interviews before writing this book. I also love the Sherlock Holmes references, including the title.
