I think the book can give one a general insight into the feelings and patterns of behaviour of an anorexic. I would say the book makes you stop and think, without being too dramatic or too graphic. It also shows how difficult it is for other people to stay by the anorexic's side and how very difficult it is to actually help an anorexia sufferer.

Thank you, cariehhh, for sending in the book!

This arrived today. THANKS :)
Even if there are more books on the pile.... it feels as if I need to start this quite soon... ;)

I was hooked... ;)
What was new for me, and what was also a very good point, I believe, is the fact to see this disorder as a solution and not a problem. So that means if you don't resolve the initial problem, you will give the person in question a hard time if you take away her solution. Overall I think that's the main thing I will take with me from this book.
I liked Carol's style - and I do believe that Emma was very lucky to have her.
Nevertheless I was missing something. Well - it's hard to describe - but somehow I felt the description of the actual feeling and situation of Emma was missing. For example I was a bit nervous when Carol was reporting about Emma's repeatedly bingeing since I was never really aware if Emma had a relapse or is still recovering...
But on the other hand the story of Carol's journey with Emma was told. And I liked this point of view, as well the honesty about that, very much as well. Also since this is not something you read in every book.

thanks so much for sharing.

Today the book will be on the road again ;)

Finished the book last night - defintely a gripping read and very, very educational. There was so much I didn't know or understand about anorexia nervosa, and there still is, but reading this book has brought me one step closer into understanding the mindset of a person with this disease. It was difficult to read at stages (not because of the content, but because of the style of writing), but I was determined to plod through it and I came out the other end satisfied and with a better understanding.

Sending this off to the next person tomorrow!
