When the first snow falls in a small Minneapolis town, the whole community takes part in a carnival of innocent fun. By the end of the day, the park is full of snowmen. But when the snow melts, it becomes graphically obvious that somebody's fun wasn't entirely innocent. Two bodies are found in the snowmen, and a day later, in a nearby county, rookie sheriff Iris Rikker makes a similar discovery. Soon Detectives Gino and Magozzi are heading north in the midst of the worst blizzard seen in Minneapolis for years to join the two investigations. But some things should remain buried. And as the cases unravel, it seems the snowmen weren't alone in hiding dark secrets. The old barn next to Sheriff Rikker's isolated farmhouse also appears to have some strange connection to the killings. Could the ghosts said to haunt the place be real? Or will the truth turn out to be even more shocking and far more dangerous? Superbly thrilling from the first page to the last, the latest best-seller from the author who brought you "Want to Play?", "Live Bait" and "Dead Run" is back at their terrifying best.

I am sending this out as an Australian bookray:

1. When you receive the book, make a journal entry, so that we know it arrived safely.
2. PM the next person in line for their address.
3. Read the book, in a reasonable amount of time (try to aim for no more than a month). Feel free to make journal entries letting us know of your progress...so nobody will get concerned if it takes you extra time - I will give you a gentle reminder if there has been no notification after a couple of months - but please remember there are others waiting.
4. Would be nice if you journal your opinion of the book - good or bad :)
5. Please make a journal entry when you mail the book to the next person.
6. Above all enjoy the book - I am only sending out books that I have read and enjoyed.
7. If you are the last person please feel free to wild release or set up a new ray or ring.

This is my first P J Tracy book, but it won't be my last. I enjoyed the twists and turns and the glimpses into the private lives of the detectives. I don't want to spoil it for future readers so I will just say I liked the ending not being what I expected.

I have Pm'ed puppymummy and will post as soon as I have an address.

I have now read all of the PJ Tracy books, and the author team has definitely become a must buy. This one was a little different to the other three, where the bad guy is not quite so obvious and we have a brand new character in the Sheriff. I am hoping that we will see her again, although I'm not holding my breath as one of the other non-core characters wasn't featured in this book.
The authors have definitely taken a different tack with this book, not sure if it's an avenue I would like them to explore further or not. But I am wondering if Sheriff Iris is destined for Harley....
Thanks heaps for the opportunity to read this, I'll be sending it on to BellaMack this week.

I finished this one over the weekend. The setting was interesting and I didn't really know that much about Minnesota. Moments of brilliance, but unable to have any kind of affinity with the characters.
