Picked up at the ubs, Willow Tree Books.

From the cover -
Curiosity just might be the death of Mrs. Murphy - and her human companion, "Harry" Haristeen.
Small towns are like families: Everyone lives very close together... and everyone keeps secrets. Crozet, Virginia, is a typical small town - until its secrets explode into murder. Crozet's thirty-something postmistress, Mary Minor "Harry" Harristeen, has a tiger cat (Mrs. Murphy) and a Welsh corgi (Tee Tucker), a pending divorce, and a bad habit of reading postcards not addressed to her. When Crozet's citizens start turning up murdered, Harry remembers that each received a card with a tombstone on the front and the message "Wish you were her" on the back.
Intent on protecting their human friend, Mrs. Murphy and Tucker begin to scent out clues. Meanwhile, Harry is conducting her own investigation, unaware her pets are one step ahead of her. If only Mrs. Murphy could alert her somehow, Harry could unncover the culprit before another murder occurs - and before Harry finds herself on the killer's mailing list.

Well, I'm finally getting around to starting this series after picking up a number of these books over the last several years.

At first, I didn't think I cared for this one, but I think these characters will grow on me. I remember seeing a TV movie from this series a number of years ago starring Ricki Lake. Don't remember if it was from this story, or a different story, but I found it charming. I have the next several books in this series, and I'm going to continue to read these to see how they develop.

I'm going to hold onto this one for a while - I'm thinking about doing a "cat stories" bookbox later.

Picking this from the cozy mystery bookbox. Have read one other in the series and think it's about time for another! Thanks!

I liked the setting, and loved the drawings of Tee Tucker and Mrs. Murphy--an extra nice little touch, thank you publisher. However, the idea of the mysterious postcards, while initially intriguing , ultimately didn't quite work for me (especially the Harry & Susan bit at the end). Not sure if I would pusue any more in the series as the two I've read so far seemed just okay. However, I will have to credit the author(s) for giving me pause to wonder whether animals really use curse words or not, ha. I think one of my own cats probably does (yes, I'm looking at you, Bailey).

Saving this one for a vacation release.
