TBR. Supposed to be one of his greatest works.

Just picked this up to read and found out that the first 50 pages were put in upside down! I'll look awfully strange when I read this on the subway--oh well, this is Toronto. If I decide this book is a keeper, I'll get a replacement copy with the pages in the right orientation!

An insightful look into a famous, yet bizarre man. Vincent Van Gogh was considered to be one of the great painters of the Impressionists and it was interesting to see what forged him. He was a complete mooch and definitely had serious mental problems. They called it epilepsy in the book though it was really something closer to schizophrenia.

Having looked at his work, I am not blown away with what he did. I think anyone could achieve solid, decent work if they decided to live off someone else's income for ten years or more. I think the biggest waste of life in this book was Vincent Van Gogh's brother, Theo. His life was sacrificed for his brother's life in many ways. He did it willingly, but it was quite sad all the same.

Got this at tonight's Toronto Meetup. Looking forward to reading it as I've always been drawn to Vincent VanGogh for some reason. I once reproduced one of his paintings for one of my art classes in high school.
