The Queene's Christmas (Elizabeth I Mysteries (Paperback))

If you like Anne Perry's historical mystery series', you'll probably like this one too. It's the sixth book in the series but I hadn't read any of the first five and I didn't find that to be a problem. I really enjoyed this book and hope many others will too.
Here's the description from the back cover:
The Queene's Christmas draws readers into the magnificent realm of Elizabeth Tudor and the magic of her Court at Yuletide, circa 1564. But [...] the Twelve Days of Christmas are murderously interrupted when the Dresser of the Queen's Privy Kitchen is found hanged and trussed like the peacock he'd been fashioning for the holiday feast. With foul play afoot in her Court, Elizabeth does her royal utmost to track down the poor man's killer while striving to salvage the joy of Christmas. Doomed to suspect even her most trusted courtiers, she is nevertheless determined to vanquish the Christmas culprit - who will not only strike again but has targeted Her Majesty as his ultimate prey.

I've heard of this series before, but had never managed to run across it. When I was checking up on the OBCZ today, I found this lovely little addition, and couldn't resist taking it with me.
As I said before, I've been aware of this series for ages, but had never managed to figure out who the author was or run across a book in the series. Until now, that is. I read this while on vacation, and found it to be a thoroughly enjoyable read. History and mystery are two of my favorite genres, so it's a gimmie that I adore historical mysteries, and this book is no exception. Now that I've read this one, I'll definitely be seeking out the rest of the series.
Unless I get a better idea, I'm going to wait to release this till after Thanksgiving.
