Don''t Let''s Go to the Dogs Tonight: An African Childhood
3 journalers for this copy...
this is my second copy. really enjoyed this book (about a young english girl growing up in the middle of africa) first time around and traded it on bookrelay. saw it today at a library sale and decided to get it so i can offer it up again (or keep it myself, either way).
mailed today to bestfriends. enjoy!

Finished reading yesterday and enjoyed it! It was nice to "stay" in Africa a bit longer as I had just been reading "The Poisonwood Bible".
I love memoirs and coming-of-age stories. This one is so different from the ones I have read in the past, though. The African setting is haunting and gripping, the story moving. I learned a lot too, about what life was like out there at the time, very informative. I did not know much about that, to be honest and I was impressed. It will stay with me for a long time! One of my favorite reads in 2006 sofar.
Here's a link to an interview with the author upon her return to Zimbabwe.
Reserved for now as I will lend it to a non BC friend here.
March update: It's back home and available again.
July 2007
Now a prize in a "Keep them Moving" RABCK draw
Winners did not choose it though. Will find another way to move it on.

I loved it from the first page. It's a strange mix of feelings. Sometimes I asked myself why they didn't come back and some pages later I understood why they couldn't leave. Anyway ... You have to read before you understand the strange story of Alexandra Fuller's life.
