This book is a required text for the National History Day Summer Institute on Jamestown and the Legacy of Citizenship, in which I will participate. I hope that my students will be able to use this book for future research projects.

I like this book because the author tries to reconstruct the local people's perspective on the invasive English colonists. Although this is difficult, since the historical accounts are written from the "conquerors'" point of view, I believe Rountree does a good job.
