The amazing story of John Harrison - master horologist and winner of the race to build a reliable sea-going clock. In true Dava Sobel style she makes science interesting, even fascinating. An engaging read and and an enjoyable biography of the first man to conquer the difficulties of making time travel!

Have been eying up this book for a while - looks very interesting. I may not get to it for a little while as I'm trying to get through my TBR shelf in order, but who knows, it may jump the queue!

This was a really interesting little book. As much about the internal politics within the board of longitude which kept John Harrison from rightfully claiming his prize for years as it was the process of inventing the famous clocks. Though the style was very dispassionate and factual one still got a sense of the great injustices perpetrated towards Harrison.

Going to release it at the next York Meetup.

Snaffled at the April meet. I'm looking forward to this, having been entranced by the TV programme a few years ago.

Another one I have just found after dragging everything out of boxes to put on our new bookshelves. Apologies for hanging on to it for so long - hopefully it'll have better luck with the next person who won't be such a Bad Bad Bookcrosser!

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

I like Dava Sobel. I enjoyed "The Planets" and this is another good story about solving the problem of longitude. Sobel roots for the underdog and gets you caring about the people in the story.

To be released at the York 100th Bookcrossing Meetup.
