Kitty Goes to Washington

From the back cover:
The country's only celebrity werewolf, late-night radio host Kitty Norville prefers to be heard, not seen. But when she's invited to testify at a Senate hearing on behalf of supernaturals, her face gets plastered on national TV. Kitty's been in hot water before, but jumping into the D.C. underworld brings a new set of problems. And a new set of friends and enemies, including the vampire mistress of the city; an uber-hot Brazilian were-jaguar; and a paranoid, Bible-thumping senator who wants to expose Kitty as a monster. Kitty quickly learns that in this city of dirty politicians and backstabbing pundits, everyone's itching for a fight.

I loved the first book because it was something a little bit different (and yet still fitting into the vampire/werewolf mythology) from the other paranormals that I've read. I like Kitty because she's both strong and weak at the same time - which is a lot more real, more human, than these paranormal characters are sometimes. So I was really looking forward to the sequel.
Good news! The sequel does not disappoint. More of what I loved about the first book (though she wasn't on the radio as much, so I missed that a little), new characters introduced (Luis!), and Kitty being forced to become more public than she already was. Lots of action, character development, a little sex - all in all it was a great book.
This is definitely a series that I'll be buying new as soon as each book comes out. I'm so happy that there will be at least two more Kitty adventures. I look forward to seeing where Kitty goes next.

This was waiting for me when I got home from vacation. I'm actually reading Kitty and the Midnight Hour right now, and like this book I received from karendawn, it was offered and accepted in the Paranormal Virtual Bookbox. I plan to read this second one and pass it on within the next few months. I'm glad to hear it's just as good. :) I've got too many other books to read on and send out before then (plus catch up with the fairy tales class). Thanks karendawn!
A lot of Club VLAD readers would like to read this one, so after I've read it, it'll become a ring or ray.

A terrific read! I liked this one even better than Kitty and the Midnight Hour, the first in the series.
Kitty runs a late-night talk radio show called The Midnight Hour. Up until now, many humans still believe her show is some kind of spoof; they simply can't bring themselves to believe supernatural creatures like vampires, werewolves, and other shapeshifters actually exist. However, having become somewhat of a celebrity now, and kind of a resident expert, Kitty's called upon by the Senate to testify at a hearing which would bring the supernaturals to light and be legally recognized by the government
But her trip to D.C. has brought her face-to-face with a number of other interesting characters, some of them seeming quite friendly, like a über-hot Brazilian were-jaguar *roaw* and the vampire mistress of the city, and others not quite so. And as a dirty politician and a sketchy doctor set her up to take a major fall, help comes from unexpected places.
But this is Kitty! As much as she'd normally like to stay in the background, and her wolf rather hide than fight, her determination not to pushed around anymore gives her the strength to overcome anything which comes her way! Kitty is definitely a friend every girl would love to have: a soft lovable side, combined with a strong and determined determined tough side. I eagerly await the next in the series!
PS - I just reread karen's entry above and noticed that she talked about Kitty's personality as well. :)

Sending out as Club VLAD bookray with final participant as woosang, effectively making it an RABCK to her with a few stops along the way. :)
Mailed to Joanne (NeedSun) as first participant of ray on 4/4/07 via USPS International Air Mail (along with Three Bedrooms, One Corpse and Plum Lovin'). (Joanne, feel free to hold on to it until you've received and read the first book.)

This arrived on my mailbox today. Thanks for sending it my way, Cherie, and also thanks for letting me hold onto it until I get the first one in the series. I still haven't heard from joasik about that one, Kitty and the Midnight Hour by Carrie Vaughn , so I am going to put this book on hold until I do.
This was just as good as the first book. I love that these books have a story that is quite a bit different from those with the average butt kicking heroine, even though that is part of the story, it is a very incidental.
The first and second books are going into an envelop right now and should be mailed tomorrow to Maplesflowers.
Edit June 1: I never get to the post office when I think I can which is why I always edit when I get home. Sent today.

OOOpppsss...I forgot to journal. Bad me!! Well, the important thing is that you know I have it now. :o) I'll be getting to it very shortly.
I read both Kitty books while camping last week. I wasn't sure if I really wanted to read book #2, but once I got into it, I was glad that I did. It isn't one of the best series I've ever read, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be at the beginning. Thanks for sharing! Waiting on krin511's address to send this on to her.
Arrived today and I've already started reading it!
ETA (7/30/2007): joasik wants to be skipped, so I contacted Morgaine77 for an address.

I enjoyed this second book in the Kitty Norville series. I especially liked how Kitty learned about the other were-creatures in Washington, DC and how she learned that she could count on Alette, the vampire queen. I look forward to reading the next book in the series, Kitty Takes a Holiday.

I enjoyed the second book in the Kitty Norville series as much as the first one. I don't know what to say that karendawn hasn't already said. :) Kitty is a great character, both strong and vulnerable, and the supporting cast are really good as well. In a way this series reminds me of Patricia Briggs' Mercy Thompson series, with both werevolves and vampires.
Thank you for starting this ring, CheriePie! I'll send the book to AmberC next week.

I've forgotten most of what happened in the first book so the references left me in the dark, but I remember being surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I enjoyed this one very much too, although most of the humour is missing: given the circumstances it's understandable that Kitty may have lost her sense of humour but I missed it from the book overall. Kitty is a great character - I suspect she would be even if she wasn't a werewolf. These books are fun reading with an underlying seriousness that gives them an added fillip.
Thanks CheriePie. I'll PM woosang anon.
