A truly delightful read... epecially for those who know some maths..

A young greek boy discovers the truth about his not-so-famous uncle and a life-long obsession to prove a certain result in mathematics./

A lot of the history is real, though the main character is fictional.

To be privately crossed at tomorrow's meetup

This is a work of fiction, written by a professional mathematician, about mathematics (although not the area he works in), and I as reader have a degree in maths (so consider my rating in that light). There is the odd equation in this book, you can skip them and probably still get it. On the other hand, if you know your maths, he got the details right as far as I can tell.

An old uncle "wastes" his life on a potentially impossible problem (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goldbach_conjecture). His nephew, despite being actively discouraged ends up pursing a mathematics (a more mundane area). A confrontation re-energises the uncle. Will he solve the problem?

Character development is wonderful, that is, if I know myself and some of my friends, but not your average character.

Also for mathematicians note (just recently):
l-ADIC PROPERTIES OF THE PARTITION FUNCTION
by AMANDA FOLSOM, ZACHARY A. KENT, AND KEN ONO
looks like be a break through in it's own right, and if the book is close (I don't know), this maybe very relevant to the Goldbach Conjecture.

I confess to having a degree in maths as well. Not to being able to recall unaided what Goldbach's Conjecture is. Thanks friends, I intend to enjoy this book.
