This was my journal entry for my first copy, registered in June of 2003:
"One of Findley's darker novels. Involves several interwoven storylines, including that of a schizophrenic ex-librarian who accidentally releases Kurtz, from Heart of Darkness, into downtown Toronto. Looming over the story is the threat of an avian-borne disease which is downright creepy in light of the West Nile scare. Best to save this one for your winter reading pile."
Now the threat of avian flu makes the avian-borne disease plotline even more relevant and creepy. Headhunter was originally published in 1993.

Timothy Findley is an excellent writer but I decided I was too overloaded with books and would let this one go unread.
