First of a new series of mysteries, this one set in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Thanks to Ebumu's request for a trade, I've gotten this book off my TBR stack and is going into circulation.
Don't let the low rating discourage you. I started this book thinking it wasn't my cup of tea, and for the most part it wasn't. It moves pretty slowly and is full of literary and philosophical allusions I'd bet most readers won't get. Still, the character's growing interest in detective work is nicely developed, and it's got a gentle charm. I liked #1 Ladies' Detective Agency better, but this one's still a very nice, low key read.

This book arrived in today's mail. Today? An unassuming day without portent or catastrophe. There is the usual August crush of students coming back into town to start classes at one of our two colleges--Cornell University and Ithaca College. Please drive carefully, avoiding the sleek luxury cars of parents that are wandering into intersections and stopping to consult maps. Do not visit the cable company, or try to call the electric company. Right now, it's best to stay home and read a good book. Thanks for the trade (for Middlesex)!
