Considered to be the Poe of South American this writer was born in Uruguay and died in Argentina. (I read him for olympic challange for Uruguay.) These stories are in chronological order and his writing gets stronger with age. A master at the short story, I had no trouble picturing the charaters in their settings deperate to live through the plot. My favorite is "Anaconda" but shouldn't be read by those with a fear of organized vipers.

Just received this in the mail a few minutes ago from hendertuckian. I'm looking forward to reading this collection of stories from Uruguay for the Olympic Challenge.
