A intricate story covering three generations, starting with an idyllic - though definitely strange - childhood, and ending in tragedy. The novel is set mainly on a Cornish beach.

A lovely new book from my new friend Lemonoz. Thank you very much - I did not realise it was such a heavy book. I will read and journal in due course.

I enjoyed this multi-layered story very much. I liked the way the chapters moved back and forwards to each generation's story and the way it was based around two holidays in a beach house in Cornwall.
The memory of the tragic family holiday in Julian's childhood was eventually unearthed as we dealt with the current lives of Frances and her early-onset Alzheimer's and Will (who had changed his name from Julian) becoming open about his sexuality.

I picked this up at the Melbourne meetup last night after the high recommendation from meganh. I'll try to read this soon.
