This is a description of a period of time in the life of Sultan Khan- a bookseller to the people of Kabul. I find this subject area fascinating, but the book itself loses its flow towards the end- I read the beginning quickly and then found it hard to complete. Well-written and interesting, it reveals a type of living that I have no experience of.

Picked up from elisabethlily at BC meet yesterday at Riverbend Bulimba - I've already started reading it and I'm not sure if I like their female role models!!

I found this book very interesting and frustrating. The author tackled a topic that I haven't read or like elisabethlily, experienced before. I was frustrated with the culture and the lack of respect shown to women. I thought it was facinating that the author found a method of combining the history of Afghanistan and bringing the story to the micro level of one family in this country. A very good book.

Picked up at meetup today at the beautiful gardens at Mt Cootha. I'm not sure if this will be "my thing" but I have read some amazing books because of Bookcrossing that I would never have read otherwise and I really enjoy the variety of books other members release. So I might give it a try! Thanks Elisabethlily.
