I've never read a book like this before. I was captivated by the characters and the setting which was something I'd never explored before - China and its culture and beliefs. We see a series of vignettes detailing the lives and stories of various girls, the players in the "Joy Luck Club" and how they have changed over the generations. It's definitely a human story, and well worth the reading.
