"What can a woman do when her husband accuses her of being a 'she-devil' and leaves her for another woman? Especially if that woman is six foot two, has a jutting jaw, a hooked nose and moles on her chin. And her rival is petite, ultra-feminine and a successful novelist.

From respectable suburbia Ruth takes a look at Mary Fisher in her high tower by the sea and she rebels. In tireless and ingenious pursuit of revenge she will fight until she has achieved the ultimate fantasy of the wronged woman..."

I mostly enjoyed this book though towards the end it got a bit much for me and I didn't enjoy the last quarter of the book very much. This is a story of the revenge of a wife over her husband and his mistress. Extreme!!

I have a vague recollection of this being televised many years ago (I've just googled and it was in 1986). I certainly didn't watch it though I could see the actress who played Ruth, the heroine, in my mind all the way through the book.

Received this book today from Candy-is-dandy, I too have a vague recollection of the TV series in the 80's, can remember Dennis Waterman and Patricia Hodge as two of the main characters, and like Candy, can also remember the 'she-devil' Ruth's face. Looking forward to reading this.
