This was a deeply rewarding read. I have never been to the aree of the UK (The Fens) in which it is set, but the sense of place conjured by Swift is intense. The story has several dramatic elements - love, murder and tragedy - all set against a historial and psychogeographical background. Read it.

A cracking book. Must be read.
