It's a thouching story about a girl who gets molested by her father. She runs away from home, following the tracks of Beatrix Potter. In the end, she finds friends who help her confronting her parents and finding ways to deal with her past. Her rat is for a long time, the only living beeing she can have a relationship with.

Sending it on to my friend anathema-device.

Almarna Tiaam sent this to me, along with a novel featuring pet rats. Since I had some time to kill this afternoon, I couldn't help myself but start to read it. I think the graphic novel is very well done, the story is an important one to tell - and the black-hooded pet rat is one of the cutest and most realistically represented ever! You immediately realize the author/artist has got rats at home... Bet I'll finish it tonight; then it will most probably travel on to Kermit LeFrog who seems to be quite jealous for every rat book I get before he does. ;)

Gave the book to Kermit LeFrog last night. (Hope you'll like it as much as I do!) The whole story is very well done, but what's most important is that its goal is to inform people all over the world that child abuse does happen - it's just talking about it that's the real taboo. Children who experience it often think that they are alone with this experience, that nobody would listen to them or believe them. So, spreading information can help a lot. I like books that try to change the world - even if this process has to start by changing little things in people's minds.
It's a good book, in every respect. Pass it on.

Plus: the writer/artist used to draw some later episodes of Neil Gaiman's "Sandman" (which I love...) :))

I'm looking forward to read this book, but it has to wait on my TBR.

I think this is an important book for everyone to read and maybe I'll start a bookring.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

This book has been in my possession for a rather long time, and I've read it several times. Not quite what you'd call light entertainment, because the topic is fairly depressing at times... but you'll see, I don't want to give too much away beforehand.

At any rate, it's time to let the book travel on now, and meet new readers. Farewell!
