Some people say that mermaids are rapidly becoming an extinct species, like the Dodo bird, or the Tasmanian Tiger. Don't believe them. Thora is a 10-year-old girl - half mermaid, half human - who has reached that stage in her life where she must take up residence in the world of humans, without the help of her mermaid mother, Halla. With the aid of her guardian, Mr Walters, Thora moors her houseboat, the Loki, in the seaside town of Gimli. Then together with her pet peacock, Cosmo, she must come to terms with a new life amongst people. This includes school and the evil developer, Frooty de Mare.
Very witty story which reminds me of the novels of Mr Dahl.

Whoops, forgot to journal this lovely book! I'm already halfway and enjoying it very much. Thora reminds me of Pippi Longstocking. :-)
It's finished and I loved it! Thora made me smile. The pictures are just too cute! :-) Thank you for giving me the opportunity to read this book AnnevO!
I'll give the book to AnaB, a very friendly bookcrosser, who will take this book to the meeting in Gouda this afternoon, where it will be given to Mefeather.

Have been given this book during the meeting in Gouda. It's going on little pile of ringbooks, but I really hope to get started in this one soon. Sounds like a lot of fun [and I love the drawing on the cover]!
What a little gem this was. I really loved it. Absolutely adored the drawings. Fantastic.
Today, April 17th, I send it to the next one in this ring.

Looks good! I'm looking forward to reading it, but first there are some other ringbooks waiting to be read. Wish I had more time!
Enjoyed it! Nice book for a sunny afternoon in the garden with a bowl of strawberries: pure bliss! AnnevO, shall I pm vis007 to ask for his or her address?

Thora has officially arrived in my letterbox. Thank you Maaike for sending it to the Far Far West (Belgium). I've read in the forum topics that ring books never come alone . . . I see now how that is true. So I will have to catch up with some other books first, but I will not hesitate !

Wonderful story! Like Barbje, Thora reminded me a lot of Pipi Langkous. This is the kind of books I like most.
Thank you for ringing it, AnnevO! What would you like me to do with Thora? Shall I send her back to you?
**UPDATE 27/07** Sent it back to AnnevO today.
