I have a degree in chemistry so realistically I was always going to be pretty unimpressed by a book which describes the periodic table as an undiscovered country. And I am. At times Atkins sounds like a lunatic. Still, I'm all for anything that gets people interested in chemistry. I took it to India with me and tossed it onto the top bunk on a Rajasthan train
