This is part of my David Pringle's 100 Best SF Novels [#82] reading list and also the 1976 winner on my Nebula Winners list.
I think this book must have been written at the same as The Six Million Dollar Man was being shown on TV but it's a much more considered take on the idea of the cyborg. Beyond that I found it to be a reasonable story, but not an outstanding one. There is a little twist at the end, but I had guessed it much earlier in the story, so it wasn't that much of a surprise. Overall, I much preferred Pohl's novel 'Gateway' which won the Nebula in the year after 'Man Plus' did.
