A well written book but unfortunately not really to my liking. It is similar to Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum novels (which I really like) but with a weaker character.
Taken from the Trattorie OCZ this morning after our breakfast meetup. I wasn't all that impressed by Bridget Jones's Diary, but I thought I'd give Helen Fielding another try.

Bridget Jones meets Spooks.
Someone once described this kind of book as the literary equivalent of a large bag of potato crisps. You know they're bad for you, you know you're going to end up with a horrible taste in your mouth and a raging thirst for some decent literature, but somehow you just can't stop reading...
Totally implausible and over-the-top (and poorly researched - not knowing that the Sphinx and the Giza pyramids are within a few hundred metres of each other was just one obvious gaffe), but fun nonetheless. Sometimes you're just in the mood for literary junk-food :-)
