Motherless and anchorless, Silver is taken in by the timeless Mr. Pew, keeper of the Cape Wrath lighthouse. Pew tells Silver ancient tales of longing and rootlesness, of ties that bind and the slippages that occur thoughtout every life.

caught from sterile, it was really easy to read although it didn't have much of an ending but I have a feeling that was the point. Silver and Pew are really good characters. I have recommended this book to many friends.

Received in the post yesterday from the super-duper purpleskybaby as a swap.

I read this in a day and although it was an easy read, I can't say it changed my life.

RELEASE NOTES:

On its way to Niksu in Finland as a swap and to fulfill a wish.

This wasn't as enjoyable as the other Wintersons books have been and I was a bit disappointed. The beginning promised a good read but something happend and it hardly held my attention till the end. This probably needs re-reading since I just couldn't follow everything.

Best part of the book was where author lists her Top Ten Books. I really need to quote this: Finn Family Moomintroll by Tove Jansson: All of the Moomin books have to go in here for their celebration of imagination and the richness of their fantacy. Moominland is a complete world and one that challenges the dreariness of ours. I still read them sitting on the loo in my study. I love them.

I love them too. Go Finland. Go Muumipeikko :)

But anyway, I'll let this little book travel. Using the courier, this will start traveling to Pori in Finland. I would like to introduce Jeanette Winterson to Alejanda. Winterson is one of my favourite authors.

Lighthousekeeping is #4 book in my "2007 Keep Them Moving" challenge, started by Guinaveve.

I'm just making a journal entry to say I'm passing on this book to Alejanda. (Or possibly Arjamaaria, who can then pass it on to Alejanda, as they live in the same city.) I've read Lighthousekeeping before, and I really enjoyed it! Happy travelling to this book!

Thank you Niksu for RABCK-book. I love suprises! I will read this as soon as possible.

Reserved for Millam

Babel Dark, Mr. Pew, Silver... different time, different story, same lighthouse. I really like Wintersons style to tell stories.

You have good taste for authors Niksu! :o)

This book is going next to Millam (Oulu in Finland) and if I understood right, Lighthousekeepin is going to lighthouse island in Sweden after her!

This is # 21 book in Keep them moving challenge 2007.

Journal Entry 12 by Louhi from Kajaani, Kainuu / Kajanaland Finland on Saturday, June 16, 2007
Hello! I'll give this book to Millam.

EDIT years and years later

I didn't give this book to Millam because she's disappeared from BC circles. Instead I will send this to Annelis because it was reserved years ago. I don't know if she needs it anymore but at least it's a surprise book post.

The book was easy to read but very interesting. I liked main character most. Maybe I should've read this at once because I gave it a break and forgot some things in between. I'm going to read more Winterson some day. Language was somehow magical but everyday at the same time. It was thought-provoking book. I may have a new motto because of it. It's so obvious, but I hadn't thought about it: "why are you afraid when whatever you do you will die anyway?"
