What Wendell Wants : Or, How to Tell if You're Obsessed with Your Dog
12 journalers for this copy...
I'm an editor at a trade publication that covers the pet industry. Sometimes we get to take home the books that are submitted for review. I snapped this one up because Wendell, the subject, is a wheaten terrier, and I have two of them.
This book was completely hilarious. Jenny Lee is every obsessed dog owner I've ever known rolled into one. It sounds like Wendell has a great life. I look forward to her book about her eventual pregnancy, because if she's as obsessed with a baby as she is with this dog, it ought to be good.
Not sure yet what I'll do with this one.
I just sent this book to 300dogs as part of a trade. Enjoy!
Arrived safely in New Jersey! I have many rings ahead of this book so it will join my TBR pile for now. I am looking forward to reading this because I *know* that I am obsessed with my dogs!!
Loved it! I was laughing out loud yesterday while waiting in line for the H1N1 swine flu shot! Lucky for me, both of my Jack Russell Terriers Skip and Rocky have short hair so therefore, no expensive haircuts are required!
I knew I would enjoy this book, hello, my screenname is 300dogs! My cell phone number and email address are both also 300dogs and we don't dare give up our landline since it is 833-SKIP!
I just offered this up as a ray. Judging from the number of members who have paws next to their screennames, it should be pretty popular!!
OK-here is the mailing order for all those bookcrossers who need confirmation that they are obsessed with their dogs! If anyone else wants to be added, I certainly will include them. So far, here are the members interested in reading about Wendell--(mailing order subject to change)

Mailed today to oi-reader in Toledo, Ohio. Enjoy it!
Wendell is here! Rocco has been sniffing this book like crazy, so I'm assuming he's not the only dog who curls up with "Momma" while we read. I'm in the middle of one ring, but may have to sneak Wendell in over the coming holiday weekend. Thanks for allowing me to join in!

I enjoyed this book quite a bit :) Off to the next dog obsessed reader!
Cute book! Several of Jenny's "obsessions" I can relate to, however I think she does go a bit overboard (and this coming from a "mom" who's 2 boys run her life). Had me chuckling out loud more than once! Off to the next reader!
Received this just before Christmas, and haven't journaled because of pre-holiday craziness. I asked to to join this ring when my partner and I were anticipating the arrival of a puppy at our house! We've been wanting to be dog owners for a while. However, health issues (as well as other issues) have gotten in the way of our getting a dog right now. So I receive this book with a little sadness...and yet anticipation too, as we WILL get a dog, we're just not sure when.
A very fun read...Jenny and Cosmas are definitely obsessed with their dog, and she is open about HOW obsessed she is, from what she ultimately decides to wear to the dog hotel interview (what? they might not PASS?), to how many tags with emergency contact information she should get (and how desperate for Wendell's return should she sound in the wording on said tags).
We don't know yet where we'll get what will be our very beloved dog...rescue or not. We seem to gravitate towards border collies and golden retrievers...probably won't be a puppy puppy (as in super young), we'd like one a little bit older. Hopefully our dog owning days will be here soon...perhaps we will join the ranks of the obsessed dog owners!
Sending for BooksnBeer's address to send it on. Thanks again to 300dogs for starting this ray!

sending to BooksnBeer on the next leg...enjoy!
I received this today and look forward to comparing how obsessed with my dog I am. Cerveza (my chihuahua) does get her way a lot but, not all the time.
A very cute book. I did see myself on occasion. My long haired Chihuahua does rule the roost but, I try to not go overboard and I don’t spend a lot on her haircuts – much to her chagrin I do them myself. But, of course cute collars, hats and sweaters do make their way into my house.
The book did make me more sensitive to talking about my dog to other people – now, I try to only talk about her to other dog people.
This book is on its way to the UK – enjoy!!
this was definitely not my sort of book, I really don't think this suited me, and I shall try to keep away from books about pets in the near future! Shall send this on as soon as I get an address!

Oh the embarrassment of it all...I was cleaning up my study today and found this still in its parcel! Huge apologies!!! My only excuse is the madness that seems to have attended my life both before and after attending the BC convention in Washington!
I'll bump this one up Mt TBR and move it along ASAP!

OK... hanging my head in shame again! Thought I'd journalled and sent on this book weeks ago... and have just tidied the study to discover it all neatly parcelled up ready to go! Huge apologies to all....!!
So... what did I think of this book? Well... it was very affirming to discover that I'm actually quite sane when it comes to my dog compared with Jenny Lee. Wendell sounds like a sweet dog... but I think Jenny definitely comes across as an 'overinvolved' parent! I know Mac my Scottie would love me to go to the lengths that Ms Lee did - and he's got no chance at all of that happening.
In fact, I found the book was not as entertaining as I'd hoped... Ms Lee takes herself and her obsession far too seriously IMHO... and I'd hoped for more laughs than I actually got!
bekoh never responded to my PM and I will be sending this off to dabercro next week.
Again...huge apologies for holding up this ray! No special treats for me!

This book was OK. Not as funny as I hoped it would be. I sure hope the author, Jenny, exaggerated her neurosis over Wendell. I love my dog and she is our "baby" now (we are empty nesters), but Jenny's actions and reactions with Wendell were sometimes over the top. I often felt sorry for her husband.
Still waiting for the next person to send me their address so I can move this book along.

This book arrived safely in the mail. Will read it next. What perfect timing - I just got a puppy, and I am also babysitting a 2nd puppy for a friend. I have them both on a schedule like 2 little babies. Am I obsessed? LOL IDK but I guess I will find out when I read this book.

Arrived yesterday. My daughter read the title and said, "how to tell if you're obsessed... how 'bout if your dog has her own facebook page"! Yes, Bits does have her own things to say. I'm sure I'll be able to relate!
