Interesting, though not especially scholarly or consistent, look at the nature of "wizards", structured around biographies of people from John Dee to HP Lovecraft.
Seems to veer between unquestioningly accepting documented magical experiences as truth and gentle mockery, which is odd.
Fun read though, especially the mini-bios.
Liked the parallels thhe author makes between magical summonings and writings on demons with present-day ufology.
